Dishwasher Countdown!

I have lived in many apartments, homes, townhomes…very few have included a dishwasher. I am fine with washing dishes, I even did it as part of a summer job for a number of summers.

When we moved into this latest home about 18 months ago we knew we would have to live with some inconvenience. We love this home and the backyard space alone is worth not having a dishwasher…well almost.

In the past 6 months (due to L and C both eating us out of house and home) the dishes have taken over the kitchen. There is such little counter space to begin with and there is just no way that I can make the meal, eat the meal and wash the dishes without some major consequences (brothers can only stand each other for so long before mama must/wants to take part). My husband has really done most of the dishes…he is awesome about washing dishes. He is also feeling the time burden. So it is time to install a dishwasher.

Now because previous home owners have never installed a dishwasher this is a bigger job than just swapping out an old one and replacing it. We have asked a couple different contractors/plumbers/friends for a quote, help, advice and they all have very different answers. Finally, we found the right contractor to help us install a new dishwasher.

My husband and I are literally counting down the days…the dishwasher is now in our garage and will be in our house next week. This will be life changing.

Yes, I feel like a cliché 50′s  housewife who is so thrilled with a new appliance and all the possibilities but I don’t care. It’s thrilling!

Tuesday can’t come soon enough.
