Puddle fun after the rain.

We enjoyed a rain-soaked Saturday (St. Patrick Day) this weekend. It was a really cold (for Southern California) storm that blew through with lots of wind and rain. The boys did go outside for a very short time to feel the wind and chill but they quickly came back inside.

Sunday we gathered up boots, warm hats, coats and extra clothes and went to the park to find some puddles to have fun with.

Both L and C loved hearing their boots splashing in the puddles and mud. L’s pants were totally wet in about 5 min. I put shorts on C which actually worked. He stayed pretty dry for the morning.

The ball was a big hit. It would float on top of the large puddles and C thought that was one of the most amazing things he has ever seen. He played with the ball most of the morning, kicking, following, running after it, he gets such a kick out of balls.

We walked our way to a playground at the park and while we were swinging and listening to the hundreds of birds singing, three friendly ducks approached us. The ducks baffled C, he stopped stiff and just stared.

L wanted to see how close the ducks would let him get. They just kept walking closer and closer to him. I think the ducks thought L was going to feed them but we didn’t have anything to feed them with. L was holding out some leaves and sticks but the ducks knew it wasn’t what they wanted to eat.

The park was empty and the birds were so loud and happy. I love getting outside in the chill of the morning after a storm. The air is fresh and the boys love it too.
