We all love to feel appreciated, right? Well, last weekend the farm where we get our CSA (community supported agriculture) box from decided to hold a subscriber appreciation day.
Honestly, it felt backwards for the farm to express their appreciation for us, their subscribers…I want to turn that appreciation right around on the farm. They offer so much great produce and ever lasting experiences to our community. The farm deserves some serious praise.
Thank you Tanaka Farms for all of your hard work tending to your crops. Our family eats so well because of your beautiful farm.
Our family enjoyed the farm tour. The tractor ride, tasting within the hour fresh picked vegetables, learning about different fruits and vegetables and especially picking and tasting sun warmed strawberries. It was a really fun morning.
Here are some pictures from our morning:
So, if you are lucky like us and have a working organic farm close by, go visit. It is a great family experience and my boys loved it. They tried all the vegetables, even the onions (not fans, but they did try them) and ate more strawberries than I ever thought possible.
I am always interested in your own experiences…when was the first time you visited a working farm? What are your kids favorite vegetables?
We are looking forward to the next visit to the farm. The boys really love it.

Our farm did an appreciation lunch last year but it was a potluck. My three boys are all different. The oldest loves red cabbage. Middle will eat anything. Youngest likes carrots but stays away from the beets.
Its funny how we all have such different tastes. My boys eat similar veggies and a pretty wide variety (for now…I have heard as they get older that can really change).
A potluck lunch sounds fun too. Our farm does an appreciation day at least 2 to 3 times a year. It is so fun! Thanks for reading
My son will eat broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, spinach (raw), lettuce and snap peas somewhat eagerly. But if he can pick a vegetable or if it’s part of an experience like visiting a farm, he is much more willing to enjoy other veggies. Like your boys, he doesn’t shy away from “yuck” when tasting something his taste buds don’t appreciate.
I love CSA appreciation days, so fun
Yes, they are SO FUN. Any excuse I have to play at this farm I go. It is a great place to spend the morning.
