I think we all (mothers or not) need a reminder once in a while of what we love, what makes us smile, what gives us that extra spark to finish our day well. So, I am starting a series of posts based around this idea. These “Remind ME Series” will act as reminders for when my mama tank is empty and I need a swift reminder that I do know how to take good care of myself.
My thought is, maybe others who read this series will feel free enough to share their own secrets and I can learn even more useful and filling ways to keep my inner spirit at the level I enjoy…full, balanced, heard.
LUNCH:
I love food. I never skip a meal and very often I am planning the next meal as I am eating.
As a stay at home mama, sometimes it feels like all I do is cook-clean up-cook-clean up-cook-clean up. I am happy to do it, I get a huge burst of satisfaction when I watch my boys stuff their face with fresh whole foods, hummus, yogurt. I deliberately make colorful meals for my family, they eat more on their plate.
When I take the extra 5 minutes and make myself something for lunch that looks as good as it tastes, yes the picture above was my lunch for about three days running recently. It was incredibly tasty and satisfying. When I make the time, I feel the benefits for hours afterwards. A small gesture like this towards myself, brings on a sense of peace and calm. I feel special, loved, spoiled. I am smiling inside while eating it and I take the time to fully eat and enjoy it.
The day runs smoother, my mind is happy and full of creative thoughts and my boys even ask for bites.
Your turn: What meal do you make for yourself that you look forward to every time you eat it?
Next post in this Series: Remember to Look Up.
That is great way to go about it; teaching children about the benefits of healthy eating, will only help them in the longrun
I totally agree! There is nothing more satisfying than watching my boys enjoy foods that are good for them. It makes me so happy. Thank you for stopping by and “following”.
