Changing seasons mean so many things…a chance to start again, a time to reflect, the opportunity to finally feel the sun warm your back again. I look forward to changing seasons, it sets my inner compass at ease.
I grew up with four seasons, not equal in length but I knew exactly what each season felt like. The cool rains of spring turning everything around me green and crossing my fingers my softball game wouldn’t be rained out. I would lay awake in the summer too hot to fall asleep and run through sprinklers in our yard. I took drives with my grandmother searching for the most beautiful fall colors we could find and played soccer early on crisp mornings. Winter was cold and damp, it would only snow on occasion, I always spent snow-days with my sister sledding down our hill using the tire tracks in the snow as our sled runs.
Living where we do now, the seasons are much more subtle and if I am being honest, there really are only two, Fall and Summer. We just jumped from Summer to Fall here and I have waited for this transition ever since Summer started. The fall weather here is insanely beautiful. It does feel strange to start Fall in December, it feels really late. I am not complaining though, Fall is my favorite season when ever it arrives.
