100 posts and 100 followers, this has a nice ring to it!
I find it really hard to believe that I have hit “publish” 100 times since starting this blog in March of 2012. And I find it even harder to believe that at least 100 of you decided to subscribe and follow this blog.
I have learned so much in the past months and I am honestly grateful for this space to write, think, feel, express and even connect. Continuing to write every week has opened up a creative energy in my life that I am fully embracing. I am more confident in my creative impulses and I can’t wait to share some of what I have worked on while I was away from my computer for the past two weeks.
I have so many ideas for this new year. I don’t know if I was just really inspired and open to them while I was off the computer or what. But, I am so excited to share. There are three huge things in the works.
First, I am planning to hike a different trail each week, usually with some or all of my family and I will write about our adventures. I am looking forward to this challenge and documenting the journey too. My husband and I realized this winter break that our boys are capable of walking a decent distance on their own. Our minds started racing and dreaming about our first backpacking as a family. So, these hikes will offer some training and learning about how best to accommodate all of us on a backpacking trip. Exciting!
Second, I am participating in 2013 Things in 2013. A good friend came up with this idea, there is a group of us on Facebook all keeping track and documenting our purging journey. I have only made it through my closet, my 3 year old’s clothes drawers and a small bin that is a “catch-all” for papers and things I don’t know where to put just yet. I have managed to purge 210 items so far! It feels so good, I highly recommend it, start your own Facebook group, ask to join our group by contacting me directly through this blogs e.mail (curlybugblog gmail.com), start writing about your own purging journey. We all have so much stuff, it is the easiest way to take weight off your shoulders, sell, recycle, give away and if nothing else throw it out. You won’t believe how quickly you feel lighter.
Third, my creative energy is overflowing lately. I made some button Christmas Tree ornaments for friends and family over our winter break. I instantly found myself in love with buttons. I made tree garland for our Christmas tree and bought out all the green and nature looking buttons within a 20 mile radius of my house. Shortly after I finished all the trees I started sketching (this is totally unlike me). I am creative, but there is always a plan first or pattern, I don’t venture out on my own…ever. Well, that has changed. It feels so good and I have started painting and making artwork with the buttons. My husband (who is a very talented artist and unbelievably creative) has really supported me. Where in the past he has taken over, this time, he is telling me I can do it, and offering support. It is an incredible feeling to know I have totally created my art, on my own. I see why he is giving me this opportunity to feel frustrated, nervous, proud, creative all on my own. I need to do it myself, it is the best way to learn. Soon, I am going to open my own Etsy shop. It is a dream I have had ever since I first learned about Etsy, before L was even born. It is coming together and I will share more soon.
Here is to a fabulous 2013. I am looking forward to writing, hiking, creating, purging and sharing all these real-life moments. Thank you for reading!
52 new trails, love it!
Me too! It gives the incentive to get out on the trail. I know it will be really fun to find new trails and hike some we already know too. Happy hiking!
Congratulations on your 100s! And like Kyle, I love the idea of 52 new hikes but also love the idea of purging. That’s also a goal for me in 2013 – get rid of stuff!
Thank you Tammy. Yes, I agree and I really hope I can keep up with the 52 hikes this year, it is such a passion of mine.
I am loving my purging group! It gives me extra motivation and keeping track of how many items makes me feel like I am accomplishing something instead of getting overwhelmed at all the places I really need to work through.
Thank you for your continued support and I am looking forward this new year. I just opened my Etsy shop yesterday! I can’t wait to share more about it soon. Take care.
